Autumn Drop — Maple Leaf & Obsidian Earrings

CA$98.00

These earrings began with autumn — that moment when the air sharpens, the trees flare into colour, and every fallen leaf seems to glow with its own fading warmth. I shaped each copper leaf by hand to echo that feeling. Copper has always reminded me of the season’s last heat: the burnished reds, the soft oranges, the way leaves take on a metallic sheen just before they fall.

The gold obsidian at the center carries the other half of the story. Its dark body and shifting gold remind me of the long winter nights that follow autumn — the quiet glow of firelight, the way darkness can hold warmth if you look closely enough.

And of course, the maple leaves as drops — they felt right from the start. In colder regions, the maple is the tree that stays with us through every season: blazing in autumn, standing bare and honest through winter, budding with quiet determination in spring, and offering shade in summer. It’s the tree you notice even when you’re not looking for it. There’s a kind of everyday poetry in that steadiness, so letting its shape guide the design felt like the most natural choice.

Together, the copper and obsidian hold a small piece of the turning year — a bit of warmth carried forward, the kind that lingers in memory even after the branches are bare.

The whole piece is handcrafted, from the maple leaves’ veins to the sterling silver earring wires and setting — everything is formed by hand.
